The Solar Plexus Chakra is also called the Naval Center. Many people describe this Chakra as being at the belly button. You have to remember that symbolically the Chakras are located within or by the spinal column recognizing the path of the energy flows. While the area of the naval for this Chakra is correct in its height, it is toward the back of the body one must look to find the actual placement for this Chakra. It is this direct correlation with placement in or near the spinal column that allows for the theory of aligning your Chakras to increase health and personal well being.

Contrary to popular belief, it is the Solar Plexus Chakra that holds sway over the areas of emotion and feelings. Rather than representing who we are, this Chakra indicates how we feel. Focusing on the Solar Plexus Chakra can do much to help you maintain control in an emotional situation. Having temper problems? Try focusing on the energy of the Solar Plexus Chakra. Aligned with the long term Planet of Jupiter, the emotions represented by the Solar Plexus Chakra run deep to the inner core of the person.

A way to align with your Solar Plexus Chakra is to allow yourself to feel your emotions. Sometimes this is very frightening because emotions can be very powerful things and can overpower us. Grief is a prime example of an emotion that can be overpowering. With the Solar Plexus Chakra we’re talking about your “gut reaction.” Another focus for the Solar Plexus Chakra is that it is from there that our instinctive emotional responses emanate.

The color associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra is yellow. The Solar Plexus Chakra is sometimes referred to as the Naval Chakra. If you find yourself in an overly emotional situation and feel control slipping away, try a little mental imagery. It sounds silly, but stick with me here. Take a quick second to focus on your navel (some people rest their hand over the navel area), then mentally draw a line from your naval straight back to your spine. Once you reach the spine mentally put a warm orange glowing candle there. Focusing on the candle will allow its light to help you align your emotions in a more proper way. Practice this a few times at home, and with just the outward appearance of being wise enough to focus and take a moment before you speak, you are aligning your Naval Chakra to quell the emotional fear associated with speaking up! The old advice of counting to ten when angry is another way to help align your Solar Plexus or Naval Chakra.

Work with the Solar Plexus Chakra in private is also a great way to teach ourselves how we can better use the power and energy of our emotions in a positive way. Emotions run amok, just like anything else, can be destructive and painful. Excesses of emotion can be dangerous to both the psyche and the physical self, not to mention the spiritual self. Remember emotions are a part of us and as such are meant to be experienced, enjoyed and endured. They are the spice of life and are foremost meant to be felt!
